Join AgWorks member Mandy Kendall this Spring as she presents her Three-Color Gum Bichromate Printing class at Pittsburgh Filmmakers! Gum Bichromate is an historical photographic process that was first practiced in the 1850s and made popular by the pictorialists. The process combines chemicals and watercolors to make a photographic emulsion that is coated onto watercolor paper. Students will learn to create color separated digital negatives and use these negatives to print using light-sensitized cyan, magenta and yellow watercolors. The final product is a full color image that is both photographic and painterly.
Three-Color Gum Printing is a Pittsburgh Filmmakers Short Course that will be held on four Monday evenings in February and March 2014. It is part of PFM’s new alternative processes series which includes liquid light, tri-color gum and salt printing.
