The Marriage Project: Faces of Equality
Mendelson Gallery
5874 Ellsworth Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA
Opening: Saturday, November 5, 2013
This November, the Mendelson Gallery will host The Marriage Project: Faces of Equality, a collection of photographs of Pittsburgh area same-sex couples who are in long-term committed relationships who would like to marry one day in Pennsylvania or have their existing out-of-state marriage recognized by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The goal of the project is to “put a face” on same-sex couples who are in loving relationships and to communicate that we are your friends, your family, your neighbors, and coworkers, and that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation should have the right to marry the person they love. Over a dozen Pittsburgh area amateur and professional photographers have donated their time and work to make this project a reality. AgWorks member Robert Olson is one of the photographers of The Marriage Project.
A reception at the gallery to benefit ACLU of Pennsylvania will be held on Thursday, November 14, 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Legal director Vic Walczak and some of the plaintiffs in the ACLU’s lawsuit and some of the subjects from the photographs will be here to discuss issues and share stories of love and commitment.
All events are free, with donations gratefully accepted.
The Marriage Project will be on display during the following times:
