Ag Works member Eric Mastrangelo presents his solo show, 「光 : Hikari」at the Hoyt Center for the Arts in New Castle, PA from May 4, 2013 – June 30, 2013.
“Modern humans are surrounded by noise – it envelops us in our daily lives. As an artist, I am interested in finding ways to visualize that noise and make it tangible. The photos I have chosen form a series entitled, 「光 : Hikari」. Hikari means “light” in Japanese, and the series is based on the visualization of ambient light. With these photos, I’ve attempted to distill the essence of my visual world down to a basic plane of experience. Details are often distracting, so I thought I’d try and see my world without them for a change.”
